Defy gravity and host your next scouting event at Island Rock. Our instructors are experts in the rock climbing field, and can provide an array of climbing experiences for scouts on Long Island. Tens of thousands of scouts from all over Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk counties), New York City, Connecticut, and New Jersey have been exploring the world of rock climbing with us for almost two decades. We help develop individuals according to scouting principles and missions focusing in on and harnessing strength, courage, and confidence in a fun and exciting environment. Island Rock provides a unique way for scouts to experience the rapidly growing sport of rock climbing in a controlled environment and convenient location.

There is no better way to enrich a person’s life who participates in scouting than to have them climb. Climbing has been proven to build multiple types of fitness, both aerobic and anaerobic, in a way that is advantageous to a child’s development while having a blast. Physically, climbing also cultivates balance, flexibility, and coordination. However, the physical benefits of climbing are just the tip of the iceberg. Rock climbing programs for scouts at Island Rock assist in fostering an abundance of mental and life skills. Aside from the obvious confidence that thrives when someone climbs, positive thinking, goal setting, and problem solving, to name a few, are significantly developed.

Scout activities at Island Rock can be catered to any desire or aspiration. Scouts can come climb while our instructors do all the safety work and belay for them. Or, if they are super adventurous and seek further climbing education, our instructors can supply the necessary knowledge and experiences for the scouts to obtain a climbing merit badge right here on Long Island. We are also a fantastic facility to host scout group celebrations or meetings. Whatever the preferred climbing experience, the bottom line doesn’t change: having a scouting event at Island Rock will not only be a truly amazing experience, but will become a memory never forgotten.
