Teachers and schools are constantly searching for ways to enhance a student’s education. The growth and development of students is integral to the future of our society. Rock climbing has been shown to have a huge array of physical and mental benefits to it that supports their growth, and the best part about it is that it’s super fun! Having a school activity at Island Rock on Long Island will assist the fitness growth of a child, teen, or college student – climbing works the body both aerobically and anaerobically. Aside from this being an alternative to the normal physical education routine, climbing at Island Rock will also help build confidence, self-esteem, goal setting, dedication, positive thinking, and problem solving. All of this is done while the participants have huge smiles on their faces. Island Rock has hosted every type of school from elementary, middle, and high schools, colleges, and home schooled children. Schools have had us do the safety work (holding the ropes) for the guests so the students can just enjoy climbing. Some have had us teach their students how to belay and do the safety work (for guests 15 years old or older). Island Rock even has college classes from local universities that are held here on a weekly basis. Whatever the needs of the school are, we would love the opportunity to accommodate them. Day camps and travel camps from all over Long Island, New York City, Connecticut, and New Jersey have been coming to Island Rock on Long Island for almost two decades giving campers the opportunity to experience rock climbing in a controlled, indoor environment. Campers will have the ability to scale many of the walls in our 9000 square foot facility keeping them highly entertained. Adding onto the pure fun and enjoyment of climbing, campers that engage in this physical activity will also be working on their fitness and health. For the camp event, the most popular option is for camps to have Island Rock’s highly experienced instructors do all the safety work and belay (hold the ropes) for the guests for a two hour event. Deposits are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to any other date or time if canceled or moved within 2 weeks of the booked event; prior to two weeks of the event, the deposit can be fully refunded or applied to another event.
An oral confirmation must be given to an Island Rock manager a minimum of 4 days in advance to provide the final count for the event (unless otherwise stated in event confirmation). The final count given will determine the minimum amount of guests that will be required to be paid for. The number of guests confirmed puts your group into one of the brackets listed. Customer is required to pay for the lowest number in whatever bracket in which they confirm in addition to all guests that exceed that minimum number.
All guests climbing or entering the climbing area must have a signed waiver.
All guests must adhere to Island Rock's facility rules and instructions given by staff members.
Parents are responsible for controlling the behavior of their children.
